Scope & Project brief

01

Analysis

Understand how to develop a full-size multi-display technology that make driving much more comfortable and safe.

02

Product

The product design offers new possibilities for graphic expression to enhance the customer experience and integrate the ShyTech as a decorative element.

03

HMI

Beyond the transitions, the apparitions and UI bring all the magic effect to the demonstrator. The rich graphic interface mixing 2D and 3D elements creates an innovative and immersive user experience.

04

VR

Immerse in our tangible interpretation of a cockpit 2027 with a Pillar-to-Pillar screen of the Megane eTech.

The challenges are to find the best way to combine technologies and enable a new consistent user experience with services. Help customers to imagine this type of product in future vehicles by integrating the user experience into a well-known environment through a physical and virtual demo.

The questions were:

How can the 3D improve the user perception?

How can the switchable privacy display increase the safety?

How can the DMS camera enhance the user experience?

How can a 3D avatar boost the relationship between user and customer brand?

Challenges

Our design presents a relevant showcase demonstrator to support our future acquisition for next generation of cockpits for Renault. It demonstrates our capability to integrate a full-size multi-display (3D display, switchable privacy display and ShyTech display) in a car interior.

The 3D display has been included to respond to Renault top management request:

Goals

Product

Technology Combination

Four different kinds of screen were used to create this prototype. Each one is specific and used for a precise function.

Together, they achieve impeccable usage.

DMS Camera & Normal Screen

The normal 12” screen with an integrated DMS camera is used to display the information of the instrument cluster and other additional info. The DMS camera follows driver’s eye direction.

3D Leia Screen

The 5K resolution 3D display from LEIA inc company in the center displays the ADAS information, the virtual assistant, media or advertising. 3D effects help to enhance the user perception and to better perceive and understand the scene around the vehicle.

Private Screen

The passenger can watch a movie or video without disturbing the driver. When he starts a video from the private display, the screen switches automatically to private mode and the driver no longer sees the content of this screen.

ShyTech Screen

The ShyTech provides a display area, only visible when needed. Visually as well as haptically, this touch screen can be used by both driver and front passenger to interact with the cockpit.

VR Experience

Driving in Paris city center during the Olympic Games 2024

This demo is a Virtual Reality experimentation, where you will be immersed in an autonomous driving situation in Paris, in a Megane eTech with a pillar 2 pillar display. A small wide and aesthetic band, located under the main screen, using the ShyTech solution, offers an interaction area for both driver and front passenger.

The experience

Let yourself be transported by the voice of Elise, through a short visit to Paris, on the theme of the Olympic Games.

Presenting the concept

The VR experience and the prototype were presented at the Alliance ATTM in December 2022
